1969 Porsche 911S Soft Window Targa
How to describe it to you?
This car. This 1969 911S SWT. This car is so freaking awesome that if you see it in person you'll leave with a feeling of longing that you haven't experienced in decades. If you're anywhere near my age - and you're a man - you probably remember leaving the theater in 1982 after seeing Fast Times at Ridegmont High and how for weeks all you could think about was Phoebe Cates and the swimming pool scene. Remember that feeling of insane desire? This car is exactly like that - a German built, bright orange Phoebe Cates with mechanical fuel injection and 4-wheel disc brakes.
The car came to me from California where it spent most of its life (over 40 years) in the care of one meticulous owner. Today she has just over 84,000 original miles and she's the very definition of the word "survivor". She is, literally, just as she left the factory right down to the original radio. And she's as well-preserved as any car I've ever seen of this vintage. In fact she's better than that. She exceeds your expectations in every way.
For those not familiar with this car, she's even more rare than she is beautiful. The early 911S cars in any form are highly collectible but this car takes that to a whole new level. In fact, the '69 911S SWT might be the rarest production Porsche ever. While early Porsche production numbers are always a little fuzzy, Porsche produced only a handful of these cars (perhaps 6) and this is almost certainly the only one in the best Porsche color ever - Tangerine.
I'm not even sure I'd trade her for Phoebe Cates.
Actually, I lied. As beautiful as this car is, I probably would trade it for Phoebe Cates (circa 1982, of course).
