1975 Porsche 911 U.S. Carrera
For awhile now, I've been wanting a 911 that was a little bit of a hotrod. I even bought a clean 1970 911T figuring it would be a good platform to build something. Of course, it would be more likely to happen if I didn't already have a half-dozen restorations in progress.
Because I wanted a car before I turned sixty, I started looking around for something already built. Something interesting. Something great. And then I saw it listed on the Early 911S Registry - a 1975 U.S. Carrera in original Copper Metallic that was beyond perfect. It had been listed for less than 4 hours and had already sold. I was depressed.
But here's the good news. The guy that bought it was a flipper. And just a few months later I got another chance (albeit at a much higher price). This time, I made sure she didn't get away.
The previous owner must have loved this car and it shows. She's built to run with a full engine rebuild including hotter cams, European high-compression pistons and cylinders, and Weber carbs. But she's also great to look at with her high-end paint, fiberglass over steel ducktail, hood-mounted Cibies and gorgeous linen and tweed interior, brown sliverknit carpet, and correct 1975 sport seats.
Maybe you have a passion for original cars. I know I do. But, be honest, you kind of love this car, don't you?
