1970 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray
Sometimes you're just lucky.
I'd always wanted a Stingray convertible. Specifically I wanted a 1970 car (after the introduction of the the egg-crate grills and fender side vents but before the detuned engines in 1971). I also wanted a red on red car, the 350/350 motor, a 4-speed manual transmission, deluxe interior and a convertible white top. Other than that I was flexible (sarcasm intended).
This car came from a collector in Illinois who'd owned it for over 20 years. He was the second owner of the car and said he'd never sell it. In 2010 he began a restoration on a Mercedes Gullwing and, shortly thereafter, his business tanked and he needed to sell a couple cars quickly to free up the cash for his Gullwing restoration.
Lucky me. I knew the owner of the shop that was doing the restoration and he remembered that I was looking for a Stingray.
The car has just over 33k original miles and is fully documented from new. It's been painted once in its life, over 10 years ago, but looks as if it was painted yesterday. It's absolutely as clean as it looks in the photos. Interior, engine compartment, undercarriage, everything about this car will exceed your expectations.
It came to me with the P02 Deluxe Wheel Covers and period correct bias-ply tires which I switched out for some Rallys and a set of Firehawk GT radials. Otherwise, she's just as she came off the showroom floor.
