1993 Saab 900 Turbo CE
Yet another one that's sitting waiting its turn for restoration.
This is actually a very rare car. The 900 Turbo Commemorative Editions were the very last of the iconic 900 Turbos to be produced by Saab. Production was limited to only 325 coupes in 1993 and 500 convertibles in 1994. These were the highest-performing 900's ever built and came with a variety of exclusive features that set them apart from other SAAB 900's.
The 1993 Commemorative Edition coupes were delivered with a special 3.5"x 1.5" engraved brass plaque to be mounted on the floor console in front of the gear shifter. Over the years, many of these plaques were lost or destroyed and these cars have become exceedingly hard to find. This car still has its original plaque showing it to be car number 168 of 325.
I'd been looking for years for one of these cars when, with little fanfare, one popped up in my hometown on Craigslist. Even better, the guy selling it had no idea what he had. I bought it for a song.
As she sits today, she's a little bit of a basket case. But, someday soon, this car is going to be as beautiful as the day it rolled off the line.
