1988 Isuzu Impulse Turbo
Handling by Lotus, baby!
OK. I know. Not many people have ever even heard of these cars. And even fewer people would ever buy one. Let alone buy TWO of them.
In 1988 I received an insurance settlement from an accident I'd been in. Being very young, and therefor an idiot when it came to handling money, I decided to immediatly buy not one, but two new cars (as opposed to food). What can I say? I'm a car guy.
The first car I bought was a 1988 Toyota Celica Convertible. No, I don't know what I was thinking. The second car was a 1988 Isuzu Impulse Turbo with the Lotus suspension package. The deal was that my roommate was going to drive the Impulse and that he would make the payments. Long story short - he didn't and the car went bye-bye.
Almost 25 years later I hunted down another 1988 Impulse and I've begun to bring it back to life with an extensive mechanical and cosmetic restoration - not an easy task since you can't really pop over to your local Isuzu dealer for a part any longer.
But we're getting close. And when we're done I'll be the proud owner of a just-like-new 1988 Isuzu Impulse. Finally, I'll be someone.
