1984 Datsun 300ZX Turbo
Does it get any more '80s than this beauty?
This car came to me from a collector in Florida. When he put it up for sale, I knew that I had to have it. Not only was it very low miles (just under 22k), and not only was it 100% original (right down to the tires), but it was also fully loaded with some very cool options like leather seats, t-tops, a digital dash and even a G-Meter (yes, it measures the G-force in corners). Not bad for 1984. Actually, that's not bad for 2014 if you're GM.
It was also one of the very first cars that talked to you. Imagine your surprise after buying the car when a woman's voice started offering gentle reminders on operating your vehicle ("lights are on" or "fuel is low"). Trust me, if you had a talking car in 1984, you were somebody.
One other cool fact (if you're a car-dork like I am) is that this is the only car that ever came delivered with both Datsun and Nissan badges.
I've done almost nothing to her. She just doesn't need anything. And there's really nothing to upgrade. This might be a 20-year old car but it's shocking how well it holds up. It's fast, comfortable, reliable and fun as hell. I'd buy a brand new one today if they still made them.
